The painting captures the wondrous awkwardness of a teenage girl precariously positioned on a rock, like a butterfly ready to spread wings and take off into the bluish vastness. This portrait of a young girl conveys the impact of social isolation on children. It captures a moment when a young girl is left with what emerges on her phone screen. The blue light and shadows are a metaphor for sadness, loneliness, and void in her immediate environment. The dark outline of the phone in the child's hand symbolizes the world unseen to us.

Clad in a simple white dress, a young woman appears at wrought-iron gates with a calm resolute stance. The gown color hints at the name of the fated queen Guinevere, which means "The White Fay" in Proto-Celtic. Guinevere's abductions put her in the same story arc as the Greek's mythological goddess Persephone, daughter of Zeuss, who was abducted by her uncle Hades, the ruler of the underworld. In the wider scope of Arthurian lore, Guinevere is deeply tied to the realm of Avalon—a sacred island of apples associated with the restoration of wholeness, the healing of wounds, and ultimate rebirth, as the archetype of Persephone. The sword in her hands hints at the Queen of Swords arcana in tarot, who is also referred to as the card of the "wounded healer." The Queen of Swords spiritual archetype gains her wisdom through surviving sorrow or difficult life experiences. She demonstrates how to use past pain as a catalyst for developing deep compassion, resilience, and the ability to cut through illusions.

Dandelion

Intense sunlight at midday casts bright sunspots on a shaded playground creating a halo effect when caught in a child's curly bob. The interplay of direct and reflected sunlight magnifies the joyous feeling of a child bouncing on a boing toy. The painting symbolism alighns with the Sun arcana in tarot, which depicts a child riding a horse with the radiant sun shining right behind. The Sun card represents purity, raw authenticity, and joyful embrace of life and calls to let go of cynicism, past conditioning, and adult worries to rediscover playfulness and unadulterated joy. The painting title speaks to the flower most often associated with the sun due to its yellow bloom that mimics the morning sun, while the closing and reopening habits mirror the daily solar cycle.

“Mephisto” speaks to deeply personal struggles pertaining to shifting values and norms. In Faust, Mephistopheles is not the one who tempts and corrupts, but the one who summons the corrupted. The foreboding color palette and the intense menacing gaze are the conduits of the symbolism. The painting was executed using the Zorn palette: Cadmium Red, Black, Yellow Ochre and Titanium White. This choice was essential for heightening intensity and concentration of emotions.
