First Place Award in Acrylics, New England Fine Arts 6th Annual Juried Exhibition, 2024

The painting draws inspiration from a trip to Warren Falls in Vermont. This place features a sequence of gentle cascades along the Mad River, interspersed with a few remarkably clear and unexpectedly deep pools perfect for swimming. The cool tones and contrasting shadows enhance the enigmatic atmosphere of this hidden gem and highlight the glassy clarity of the deep water pool. The painting composition wraps around the 1.5 inch deep canvas for an enhanced suspension effect in a floater fame made of semi-matte black wood with a distressed edge effect that beautifully complements the natural scenery.
