What seems to be a fairly orginary coastal scenery invites the viewer to ponder on the duality of the transitory and the perpetual. The ephemeral nature of the present is expressed through the interplay of the three classical elements in the Western tradition: air, earth and water. Coastal lines ebb and flow driven by their movement. People come with ambition and hope and retreat with defeat and humility. Only the seagulls seem to be able to transcend the chaos by mastering the elements. Their unwavering presence helps to reconcile change and eternity.
